Leave a Gift in Your Will

A bequest is a gift or donation of any size that is left in your Will. We have been very fortunate to have received bequests from our members in the past, and are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our lipoedema community. 

Leaving a gift in your Will or in honour of a loved one is a beautiful legacy. Your gift will help to ensure that future generations of people living with lipoedema have access to better care, earlier diagnosis, and ongoing research to improve awareness and treatment of the disease.

Where Will My Bequest Go?

It is our commitment to you when you entrust us with a gift in your Will, that we will honour your legacy by investing your gift responsibly in ongoing research, support of people living with lipoedema, or training of health practitioners.

How to Bequest to Lipoedema Australia

Drafting a will and deciding how to share your estate is a very personal decision. To ensure that your wishes are met properly, we recommend seeking legal advice when considering a bequest. 

Bequests can take several forms, you can choose to gift a: 

  • sum of money 

  • percentage of your estate

  • percentage of the residue of your estate

  • property or asset

Suggested Wording

If you choose to leave a gift in your will to Lipoedema Australia, your legal professional will be required to insert a clause to that effect in your will. 

Please ensure that wording similar to the following is included in the clause: 

'I (insert name here) bequeath to Lipoedema Australia ABN 95 175 364 198 for its general purposes

[Choose and insert the appropriate statement from the list below]

  • the whole of my estate

  • (insert number) percentage of my estate

  • the residue of my estate

  • the amount of $ (insert the value of your gift in cash)

  • my (insert name of asset)

free of all duties, and the receipt of the Secretary or other authorised officer for the time being shall be a complete and sufficient discharge for the Executor(s).'
